<p>This lesion was picked up by chance on a patient's trunk. Clinically it was fairly symmetrical, but what do you think about the dermoscopic features?</p><p>The key features are:</p><ul><li><strong>Asymmetry</strong> of dermoscopic features</li><li>An <strong>eccentric structureless zone</strong> (black circle)</li><li>An <strong>atypical white network</strong> (black arrow) - the same as an atypical pigment network but white rather than brown/black. The metaphorical terminology for a white network is an inverse pigment network or negative pigment network </li></ul><p>As you will see in the attached algorithm, asymmetry + an atypical white network (or eccentric structureless zone) is suspicious.</p><p>The diagnosis was a superficial spreading melanoma. </p>
