<p>Don't be distracted by the single arborising vessel (black circle) and the rather peripheral position of the darker structures that might make you think of a BCC.</p> <p>The basic starting point is whether or not a lesion could be melanocytic, if you look closely there do appear to be grouped brown-black clods and the hint of a network (purple arrows) suggesting that this is likely to be melanocytic, if it is the lesion is highly asymmetrical and so needs urgent excision.</p> <p>The diagnosis was a regressing melanoma.</p> <p>Images copied with kind permission from South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.<br></p>
