<p>The naevus shows a multifocal network. The importance point is that each component of the network has a similar pattern (in biology two things are rarely identical), which is reassuring. The colour of the network is deeper in the centre, and lighter at the edge, which is normal for many patients (patients with skin type 1 may have the opposite where the features are more pronounced at the edge). Essentially this is a symmetrical multifocal network, which is a normal pattern in keeping with a benign melanocytic naevus. </p><p>Images property of South Tees NHS Foundation Trust.<br></p>
