<p>Once we examine <strong>dermoscopically the shape of the lesion is irrelevant</strong>, the terms <strong>symmetry and asymmetry refer to the structures</strong>. Here we see a pigment network that is essentially <strong>monomorphic</strong> ie has a very similar appearance throughout with good overall symmetry (no biological structures are ever perfectly symmetrical).</p><p>The diagnosis is consistent with a harmless ink-spot lentigo.</p><p>Images copied with kind permission from South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.<br></p>
